Buxton, Peak District
Stay in a gorgeous getaway just for two, located in the thriving village of Tideswell, in the heart of wonderful walking country. This charming stone cottage blends original features with modern comforts and has a delightful garden for you to enjoy, too. This rural retreat has all the ingredients of a traditional Peak District cottage, including exposed beams, an inglenook fireplace with a wood burner, planked doors and timber floors. Imagine coming home to this delightful escape after an energetic day in the fresh air. Prepare a meal in the well-equipped, Shaker-style kitchen, and you can dine either at the small table here or take your food into the lounge where there is a larger table and chairs. Afterwards, relax in the comfortable armchairs or the cushioned window seat and plan your next adventures. Upstairs, the king-size bedroom has entrancing views over the village square and there is a spacious and beautifully designed bathroom leading to a useful laundry room. The enclosed courtyard at the rear provides somewhere to store your bikes as well as enjoy time in the fresh air, perhaps warmed by the chimenea or with a meal grilled on the BBQ. Set in the limestone uplands of the Peak District National Park, Tideswell offers plenty of places to eat and drink and is renowned for its annual food festival, which takes place in May. Numerous scenic ambles, rambles, hikes and walks surround the village, with rugged peaks to the north, gentle hills and dales to the south, and Miller’s Dale, with its far-reaching views, just 4 miles away. Mam Tor and Castleton are both within 11 miles, while the popular towns of Buxton and Bakewell (you must try the latter’s famous Pudding) are both 8 miles away.
Tudor Cottage is a dog friendly holiday cottage.
