About This Property
The Curious Crab Staithes is a 3 bedroom dog friendly property
This charming three-storey cottage lies within 150 metres of Staithes Beach, one of the most photographed locations anywhere in the North York Moors National Park. The ideal base for a coastal break with family and friends, this cottage features a welcoming lounge/diner, an impressive kitchen, and easy access to the Cleveland Way and popular coastal towns and villages.
The cottage stands on a winding street feeding its way towards the sea wall. Its striking exterior is beautifully complemented by its welcoming interior, which is a blend of original features and contemporary soft furnishings, all bathed in natural light. The lounge/diner has real character, with the original wooden flooring, beamed ceiling, and open fire still in situ, with comfortable seating and a dining table and chairs at the opposite end of the room. Stone winding steps lead down into the equally resplendent kitchen, a stylish area with a low ceiling and plenty of work surface space, bookmarked at one end by a breakfast bar. Stairs in the lounge/diner lead up to the first floor which houses an attractive double bedroom, a smart single bedroom, and a family bathroom. A door on the landing reveals more steps, at the top of which is a family bedroom in the eaves – the ultimate hideaway. While there’s no outside space at the cottage, few will complain about its enviable proximity to the beach and nearby eateries.
Staithes is a traditional fishing village boasting an array of winding cobbled streets brimming with characterful properties, pubs and shops. The village hosts numerous cultural events throughout the year and dogs are more than welcome on its sandy beach. Whitby (10 miles) is famed for its abbey, pier, and association with Dracula, and is a key stopping point on the Cleveland Way, which circumnavigates the North York Moors National Park.
