Go walking at Bassenthwaite Lake, 4 miles from the cottage, or at Whinlatter Forest Park, 7 miles away.

Cross the pretty courtyard to enter the property and find a useful porch, where you can towel down your four-legged friends and leave all your outdoor gear.
