Buttermere, The Lake District and Cumbria
Situated in the timeless village of Buttermere this small traditional Lakeland cottage offers an unrivalled location for walking and enjoying the Western Lake District. It has some great original features and has been renovated to a high standard offering lovely, cosy accommodation for two. Buttermere Lake and Crummock Water are just a walk away and there are walks for all abilities right from the doorstep. There are two pubs to quench your thirst after your efforts (In winter the pubs sometimes close for the odd days so it’s best to check directly with them, and please remember torches as there are no street lights), and two cafes, one of which serves homemade Buttermere ice-cream from the farm’s own Ayrshire cows. Entering the cottage by the front door you come into a carpeted, beamed sitting room which has a wood burner, a smart TV and DVD player. Here you’ll also find an information folder, books, walking guides and board games. The sitting room leads through to the dining area which is open to the well-equipped kitchen. This has a fully tiled floor and can be separated from the sitting room by a stable door, so is a good place for a wet dog to dry off before snoozing by the fire. A stairgate is provided at the bottom of the stairs leading from this area. Head upstairs from the dining area and you’ll find a single bedroom with Velux window, a tiled bathroom with a shower over the bath, and a double bedroom with a king-sized bed with views across the valley to Red Pike Outside, across the yard, there is a private, enclosed garden which has wonderful views across the valley to the Buttermere fells – a great place to sit and relax. There is direct access from the back door steps to Rannerdale Knotts and beyond. Parking for one car is available in the yard. It should be able to accommodate most sizes of vehicle but extra-large cars may struggle to park.
Middle Cragg Cottage is a dog friendly holiday cottage.
