The shore path at Bassenthwaite runs the length of the west shore and the open air theatre at Mirehouse is worth a visit. For something a little different, why not walk an alpaca or abseil 120ft into a disused quarry? A 14 mile drive away is Keswick which hosts the popular Mountain Festival with some world class sports, outdoor activities, talks and films, with live music.
