About This Property
Audreys Cottage is a 3 bedroom dog friendly property
Dating back over 500 years, this imaginatively updated, traditional cottage makes a delightful holiday retreat for couples and smaller families seeking a secluded retreat in the Wye Valley. Enjoying a quiet location just a couple of miles from Hay-on-Wye, the property features whitewashed stone walls, timber beams, a welcoming wood burner, a picturesque garden, and glorious rural views of the surrounding countryside. Perfect for walkers, hikers, nature lovers and cyclists exploring the northern reaches of the Brecon Beacons, this tastefully furnished hideaway provides cosy and relaxing accommodation for up to four guests looking for a tranquil bolthole in an idyllic part of the historic county of Radnorshire.
Entering this characterful stone cottage, the traditional lounge features a wood burner and cosy seating, making a lovely space for snuggling up in the evenings. The stylishly updated kitchen/diner is perfect for cooking and enjoying family feasts. Heading up the traditional wooden staircase, there’s a lovely, tiled family bathroom and three pretty bedrooms: a handsome double room leads through to a cosy single, with a further single overlooking the garden. Please note the bedrooms have low, sloping ceilings and exposed wooden beams. Outside, a few steps lead up into the beautiful garden, with a stream running through a deep dingle. With outdoor seating and a dining table, mature trees, shrubs, and a large sloping lawn backing onto a vast forest, the garden offers glorious views of the surrounding countryside.
Hay-on-Wye (2 miles) is known for its numerous bookshops and its international literature festival, along with a wealth of fabulous pubs, cafes, and restaurants. Hire a canoe and take a trip along the River Wye, or you can head directly south into the Brecon Beacons National Park. There’s a wealth of historic local attractions to discover including Craswall Priory, Arthur’s Stone, Snodhill Castle, The Begwyns and Llewelyn’s Cave, all within 13 miles.
