It is set in meadow grassland with native woodland nearby, supporting a wide variety of grasses, insects, birds and animals as well as the neighbours suckler cows and calves during the summer months. Walking and footpaths from the door explore nearby Almscliffe Crag and Riffa Wood or take in some Betty's cakes from Harlow Carr Gardens, a game of golf at one of many local courses or take the family to Valley Gardens or Harewood House.
