Sleeping four people across two bedrooms, it’s the ideal option for small groups or families in search of a period cottage to call home while they discover the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire Dales together. Spend a happy day admiring the picturesque landscapes of Smardale Gill Nature Reserve, and in the evening, come home to the cottage’s pretty garden to enjoy an al fresco feast with your loved ones. Step inside and you'll be greeted by a spacious lounge area with original wooden beams that will immediately catch your eye. Take a moment to relax by the wood burner and enjoy the cosy charm of this traditional room. When it’s time to eat, descend the few steps to the contemporary kitchen/diner to whip up some dinner and gather everyone around the elegant dining table for a sociable meal. After eating, head outside and take a seat on the private patio area, which is surrounded by a large, shared lawn area. Open a bottle of wine and watch the stars come out. At the end of the day, head back indoors and you’ll find a welcoming single bedroom and a separate shower room on the ground floor. Head upstairs and you'll discover another cosy single bedroom. From the upstairs single you'll find an open archway that leads to a master king-size zip-and-link bedroom, which can be converted into a twin on request. To complete the layout, there's a well-appointed family bathroom. Immerse yourself in the history of Kirkby Stephen at the East Heritage Centre (0.5 miles), where you’ll learn all about the town's prestigious railway. Alternatively, follow a scenic trail through the woodlands and meadows to Rutter Falls (8 miles).
