Make your way inside and find yourselves in a bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with a stone floor and feature beams. Gaze out at the panoramic vistas through the large windows; settle down to watch TV or read your holiday novel before wandering over to the kitchen to make a cup of tea or a delicious meal. Find the hob and sink here can be adjusted in height if necessary. Dine together at the table before heading through to the double bedroom, with en-suite wet room. Two extra guests may be accommodated on a sofa bed in the lounge if discussed in advance. On warm days, take a cool drink out into the courtyard to soak up the scenery. Find parking for two cars at the barn. Head 7 miles from Abney to see follow a 2-mile hike up to striking Bamford Edge, an overhang of gritstone rock with spectacular views. At Ladybower Reservoir below, you can also enjoy a circular 5.5-mile walk around the lake. Castleton, 9 miles away, at the head of the Hope Valley, is also worth a visit. From here make your way over to the famous caverns. Chatsworth House, 11 miles away, has good accessibility for those with reduced mobility.
