Take the fresh air out in the garden on fine days. Parking is on the road close to the cottage. Visit the village’s nature reserve within a limestone valley at Tideswell Dale; those who are energetic can pick up the 7-mile route from here that follows the River Wye along Miller’s Dale. Drive 9 miles to follow a gentle 3-mile route through National Trust land at Bronze Age hill fort Mam Tor. Head 10 miles for a day out to famous Chatsworth House.
