From here, why not take a day trip on a boat to the rocky Farne Islands, famous for their seals and seabirds. For a good dose of history, follow the Northumberland Coastal Path 5 miles north to the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. If you have any Harry Potter fans in your group, Alnwick (14 miles) is must – the medieval castle here was used as a set for the famous films.
