Steps lead down into the charming patio garden which makes a lovely spot to sit back with a glass of wine or al fresco meal and watch the abundant local birdlife. The lakes of Windermere (5 miles), Coniston Water (6 miles) and Esthwaite Water (8 miles) are all within easy reach, with plenty of opportunities for water sports, ferry trips and woodland walks. There are numerous other attractions and landmarks to discover in this stunning region including The Old Man of Coniston (12.5 miles), the South Lakes Safari Zoo (9.5 miles), Fell Foot (5.5 miles), Grizedale Forest (9 miles) and Holker Hall and Gardens (6.5 miles). The bustling market town of Ulverston (6 miles) was the birthplace of Stan Laurel and stands at the centre of the Furness Peninsula. The town has a wide range of pubs and restaurants, as well as venues including Coronation Hall, Ford Park and the world’s only Laurel and Hardy Museum.
