Try a spot of fishing at the on-site Tavistock Trout Fishery. The barn’s unique feature is its split-level design, allowing both separation and integration of space for privacy and mingling. Accessed via a small set of stairs, the lovely leather sofas in the lounge offer an excellent vantage point on the well-equipped kitchen/diner. Explore the Cotehele estate (10 miles), with its Tudor house perched high above the River Tamar, gardens, orchards, quay and tea room. The ancient city of Plymouth is just 16 miles away, with its excellent Barbican Theatre, exciting shops, pubs, art galleries and museums. Children should try the Dartmoor Mystery Treasure Trail, which may just start a lifelong love affair with Devon and the moor.
