Sitting pretty in the lovely village of Hawkshead, this quaint period cottage sleeps two people in one bedroom and welcomes one canine companion. It’s the perfect accommodation option for a romantic couple in search of a Lakeland retreat that’s overflowing with character. Spend your days hiking the Esthwaite Valley or sailing on Windermere, and your evenings meeting the locals in one of the friendly village pubs or cosying up by the glow of the cottage’s wood burner. Step through the front door and head through to the cottage’s compact kitchen, where you can rustle up a romantic meal for two. Enjoy an intimate dinner at the table by the window in the lounge, or step outside and dine alfresco on the patio while you enjoy views of the shared garden. After dinner, crack open a bottle of something cool and crisp and wait for the stars to come out, or head back into the lounge to warm your toes by the wood burner. At the end of the perfect day, there’s a lovely bedroom to snuggle up in. Head up to Claife Heights (5 miles) and you’ll find a wonderful vantage point where you can soak up stunning views over Lake Windermere. Or make your way to Coniston Water (4.5 miles) to enjoy a day of sailing, stand-up paddleboarding or windsurfing. Alternatively, stay close to home and take a stroll into Hawkshead Village (0.5 miles) to browse the Beatrix Pottery Gallery and treat yourself to a traditional cream tea in one of the village teashops.
