The Deckhouse is a dog friendly holiday cottage.
At the end of a narrow street in the peaceful fishing village of Appledore is this snug cottage and its pretty painted exterior, perfect for couples and small families looking to escape to the coast. Located in the heart of the village you will have a great range of activities within walking distance including welcoming pubs, shops and restaurants. A trip to the Maritime Museum followed by some lunch while watching the water lazily lap against the quayside can quickly fill an afternoon, such is the hypnotic quality of the sleepy Devon coast. An inviting open-plan kitchen/lounge centres on the ground floor, as full of kitsch details and curiosities as Appledore itself. Painted exposed beams and a wood burner add heaps of cottage charm. Connecting to this room is the dining conservatory, with access to the external decked area. Evenings can be spent enjoying wine and crackers on comfortable sofas by the TV and wood burner, or perhaps spread across the conservatory and outdoor dining table. Both bright and airy bedrooms can be found upstairs, this floor is fresh and comparatively simple with two neat bedrooms and a shower room with WC. If you are looking to travel further than the quayside, Westward Ho! can be found 3 miles away for miles of sandy beach and seaside amusements. Bideford can be found 4 miles in the opposite direction, home to museums, shops and restaurants, as well as boat trips to the local treasure that is Lundy Island. Young families might also want to visit The BIG Sheep, an agricultural amusement park also 4 miles from the cottage.
