A spacious, airy apartment in an enviable position in the medieval market town where English poet William Shakespeare was born, this ground-floor retreat is perfect for couples and small families. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway is ideally located for those wishing to explore the colourful shops and eateries, as well as Shakespeare’s Birthplace, a 0.5-mile stroll away. Take a tour of the town and book tickets to see a play in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre or the adjacent Swan Theatre on the banks of the River Avon. Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, where Shakespeare’s wife lived as a child, is 2 miles away and well worth visiting. Mary Arden’s Farm, the childhood home of Shakespeare’s mother, is 4 miles out of town in Wilmcote. Both can be reached via the hop-on, hop-off tour bus. Plan a day trip to the Cotswolds, 6 miles away, or Warwick Castle, 8 miles away. Return from pottering in the town or discovering the magnificent Warwickshire countryside to unwind in the comfortable surroundings of this well-designed and very generous apartment. At the heart of the holiday home is an inviting open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, where you can gather to relax and catch up on your day. Kick back on the soft seating in front of the smart TV or make plans for tomorrow’s exciting outing. Play a lively game or read your books quietly before heading over to the immaculate kitchen area to whip up a delicious meal whenever you choose not to dine out in a restaurant. Gather around the table for your home-cooked feast. There is also a handy utility room. As day turns to night, head through to one of your lovely bedrooms, both of which feature good storage. There is a double bedroom, with the luxury of an en-suite shower room, and a twin to choose between. There is also a family bathroom, where you have the choice of a refreshing shower or a hot soak in the bath. Step straight out from the back door to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine of your private patio on summer days. Light the charcoal BBQ (available by arrangement) in the garden and dine on the deck. Linger over a bottle of wine as the stars begin to appear. There is private parking for two cars.
