Nearby attractions include the Galloway Astronomy Centre (6 miles), where you can admire the dark skies of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, and the seafront St Medan Golf Club (9 miles). A little further afield, the picturesque town of Wigtown (13 miles) - Scotland’s National Book Town - offers around 15 independent bookshops and hosts an annual literary festival.
