Set out on local walking routes or venture to historic Whithorn (7.5 miles), harbourfront Garlieston (11.5 miles) and picturesque Portpatrick (27.5 miles). History lovers will love exploring the atmospheric ruins of Glenluce Abbey (16 miles), while green-fingered guests can admire exotic plants at Logan Botanic Garden (28.5 miles) or wander through the grounds and famous maze at Dunskey Gardens (28 miles). Galloway Forest Park (20 miles) is a haven for stargazing, birdwatching and wildlife spotting, as well as mountain biking along the 7stanes trails.
