About This Property
Oc 37866 Greystones is a 2 bedroom dog friendly property
A charming Yorkshire retreat in the Swaledale village of Gunnerside, this country cottage is perfect for families and friends, especially those with pets in tow. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom, two-storey hideaway is situated right at the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, 10.5 miles from Hawes and 16 miles from Richmond. Head out straight from the doorstep on scenic walks alongside the River Swale and return to the community-owned village pub for a pint of local ale. Venture into Hawes to meander through the pretty market town, dine out and visit the famous Wensleydale Creamery and Dales Countryside Museum. Drive 10.5 miles to the enchanting Aysgarth Falls, which have been featured in a number of films and TV programmes, including Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Explore historic Richmond with its beautiful architecture, fascinating independent shops, cobbled market square and striking Norman castle.
Enter the honey-coloured stone cottage via the front door and a small lobby, where you can dry muddy paws and shuffle off your walking boots. Amble on in to find yourselves in the cosy, beamed lounge, the perfect place to gather, relax and socialise between your trips out. Light the wood burner and sink back into the soft seating with a book from the shelves or a film on the Smart TV or the DVD player. The kitchen/diner is well designed for holiday meal preparation, with plenty of storage and workspace. Beyond the kitchen are utility and boot room spaces, plus a WC. The bedrooms, all double in size, are arranged across the upper two levels of the cottage. The family bathroom, where you can enjoy a long, hot soak, is also at this level.
Unwind on the bench out to the front of the cottage, where you have an enclosed patio. Here, an original red post box is set into the wall of the house, making an interesting feature. There is a car park, with no charges, outside the property where guests are welcome to leave their vehicles, subject to availability. There is one private parking space to the side of the property and the village car park, which is also free, is 20 metres away.
