About This Property
Oc 36036 The Old Smithy Horncastle is a 2 bedroom dog friendly property
A unique retreat, this beautiful hideaway features something to catch your interest at every turn. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom abode was once a working blacksmith’s forge serving the local community until the 1950s. Lovingly restored in 2018, it has been thoughtfully transformed to blend its industrial heritage with warm, modern comfort. Nestled in Belchford, with its traditional village pub, and just 5 miles from Horncastle, it sits in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds – perfect for lovers of the great outdoors. Red Hill Nature Reserve is 5 miles away, while the wooded valley of Hubbard’s Hills is 11 miles away. Browse the market stalls in Louth or hunt for antiques in Horncastle. Plan a trip to Lincoln to see the cathedral or head to Sutton on Sea, 18 miles away, for a relaxing day at the beach.
Open the French doors in the huge glass archway and step inside this character-laden holiday home. Wander through the building to discover features such as exposed brickwork, beams and fascinating adornments, including glass bottles and other items that were found on the site during restoration. You will also notice the photographs that depict the building before conversion took place. The ground floor of the property largely encompasses the delightful, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Stoke up the fire in the wood burner in here, then flop on one of the deep sofas with a book open or the Smart TV on. Whip up hearty Lincolnshire feasts in the kitchen, then congregate around the rustic wooden table in the dining area. Also downstairs is a utility room, with excellent space for your four-legged friend to bed down and plenty of room for wellies and walking boots. The family bathroom, with its gorgeous free-standing bath, is also here. Make your way carefully up the winding iron and wood staircase to your bedrooms, a king-size with an en-suite WC, and a twin. Both bedrooms have charming sloped ceilings and skylights that bring the sunshine streaming in.
Amble outside to dine at the table in the sunshine in the enclosed garden. Let your canine companion play on the raised lawn. There is private parking here for two cars, plus EV charging.
