About This Property
Oc 35810 The Courtyard is a 1 bedroom dog friendly property
Enjoying a wonderful, elevated position on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell, this inviting cottage for two promises walks from the doorstep and easy access to some of Cumbria's most beautiful scenery. Make your way into Ambleside (1 mile), a lively Lakeland destination where rows of independent shops, cafes, and pubs offer plenty to explore, while an indoor climbing wall and independent cinema provide entertainment on rainy days. Follow the winding River Brathay (100 metres) down to the shores of Lake Windermere (1.5 miles), where opportunities for adventure await, including lake cruises, kayaking, paddleboarding, and wild swimming. The village of Skelwith Bridge, 1.5 miles away, makes an excellent end point for fell walks or mountain bike rides, home to a welcoming country pub and a much-loved riverside cafe.
Exposed stone walls enhance the charm of this characterful retreat, a multi-level space adorned with scenic artwork throughout. Enter via the enclosed conservatory, offering seating and ample space to store coats, boots and outdoor gear before stepping inside. The kitchen/diner is a cosy setting featuring a wood burner-effect electric fire, a circular dining table, and a compact kitchen neatly tucked into one corner. A small nook houses a bookcase well stocked with books and games for relaxed evenings in. Next door, the warm and inviting lounge features a large L-shaped sofa and Smart TV, perfect for unwinding after a day outdoors. Upstairs, a mezzanine-level seating area provides an additional cosy spot to escape with a book. Back on the ground floor, the welcoming king-size bedroom includes a TV/DVD for late-night viewing, while a shower room completes the interior accommodation.
Outside, a shared courtyard garden directly in front of the property features a bistro set – ideal for enjoying morning coffee in the sunshine. Guests also have access to extensive shared grounds and gardens with neighbouring properties, including woodland areas and a footpath leading directly onto the fell. Private parking for one car is provided.
