About This Property
Oc 35207 1 Wordsworths Stamp House is a 2 bedroom dog friendly property
Dating back to 1700, this delightful apartment offers spacious and welcoming accommodation for up to four guests eager to explore Windermere and the heart of the Lake District. The property sits at the centre of Ambleside, with a wealth of friendly pubs and restaurants just a short stroll away. Ambleside is home to some fascinating and popular sites including The Bridge House, the Armitt Museum, Ambleside Roman Fort and Stock Ghyll Force. The northern edge of Windermere is just a mile away – from here you can take a boat cruise down the lake, calling at Brockhole, Bowness and Lakeside. For walkers and climbers the local area has a choice of destinations including The Old Man of Coniston, Wansfell Pike and Rydal Cave, all within 7.5 miles. Several other major lakes are within easy reach including Grasmere, Esthwaite Water and Coniston Water, all within 7 miles.
A flight of external stairs takes you up to the front door, leading through to a useful boot room before heading into the light and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. From 1813, this was William Wordsworth's office where he worked as postmaster for Westmorland, with the big bay windows looking out over the town centre. The cheerful lounge has a Smart TV and sumptuous seating, and the stylish dining table is placed over by the bay window and the window seat, allowing ample slight to stream in. To the rear of the room, the sleek and stylishly arranged kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your favourite dishes. Heading along the hallway you will have a choice of two bright and relaxing bedrooms: the first is a lovely king-size room with window seating, wooden blinds and a Smart TV; the second is a characterful double with plenty of storage space, wooden blinds and a Smart TV. Each bedroom benefits from its own refreshing en-suite shower room.
The property has no outside space of its own, but it is ideally situated within easy reach of a choice of pubs, cafes and restaurants. A parking permit is provided for one car, which you can use at several carparks nearby and throughout the South Lakes. You can pull up outside the property to unload and to collect the permit.
