About This Property
Oc 35069 Old Apple Barn is a 2 bedroom dog friendly property
Enjoying a central location in the award-winning leafy village of Burton Bradstock, this quintessential English chocolate box cottage provides cosy yet extremely comfortable accommodation for couples and smaller families eager to explore a tranquil part of the idyllic Dorset coastline. Making a fantastic gateway to the Jurassic UNESCO Coast, the village is home to a choice of charming pubs (with one opposite the cottage – The award-winning 'The Three Horseshoes' pub & restaurant). Hive Beach is half a mile away, backed by spectacular sandstone cliffs. Heading east along this stunning stretch of the coast, Hive Beach leads to Cogden Beach (1.5 miles), West Bexington Beach (4 miles) and then on to Chesil Beach (14 miles). To the west, you can enjoy the beautiful beaches at West Bay (2 miles), Eype (4 miles) and Charmouth (9.5 miles). The thriving resort of Bridport is 2 miles away, with other local attractions including Gold Cap, the Symondsbury Estate, Abbotsbury Swannery and Bridport & West Dorset Golf Course all within 14 miles.
Entering this adorable Grade II-listed thatched cottage, the hallway has space for kicking off boots before you head through into the welcoming kitchen/diner. The well-equipped shaker-style kitchen is thoughtfully organised and offers a range of fantastic Smeg appliances, perfect for rustling up your favourite family dishes. A couple of steps lead down to the snug and welcoming dining area with original wooden beams and a sociable country-style dining table. A door then leads through to the heart of this beautiful 350-year-old retreat: a sweet and relaxing lounge with a lovely, beamed ceiling, plush seating, a Smart TV and a historic inglenook, providing a cheery space for everyone to get together and unwind in tranquillity. From the lounge, a winding staircase leads up to the first-floor landing featuring wooden beams and a high ceiling. This floor also has a characterful rustic-luxe shower room with a refreshing rainfall shower, his and hers basins, and a WC. When the day winds down, the first floor reveals two stunning bedrooms – a showstopping king-size master and a charming double. Exposed brickwork, original timber beams, soaring vaulted ceilings with statement chandeliers, and a cosy window seat create a space where heritage charm meets boutique-hotel luxury.
From the kitchen, a stable door opens out into a charming back garden with seating, perfect for a morning coffee. Please note that neighbouring properties have the right of way at the rear. To the front of the cottage, there's another idyllic seating area with plenty of garden furniture, offering a peaceful spot for dining alfresco and watching the world go by. Unallocated parking is on a first come first served basis along the street and the surrounding roads. Please note, due to the thatch, BBQs and open fires are not permitted.
