History and scenery combine in Coldingham (11 miles), a picturesque village known for its welcoming inns, the ruins of a 7th-century priory, and the stunning sweep of Coldingham Bay, popular for surfing and long coastal walks. Wildlife lovers shouldn’t miss St Abbs (12 miles), a postcard-pretty fishing village and gateway to the National Nature Reserve.
