About This Property

Oc 34808 St Giles In The Wood is a 4 bedroom dog friendly property

This welcoming cottage sits on the edge of the village of Beckley in Sussex and is a fantastic holiday base for larger groups of friends or family. It’s in a lovely rural spot within the High Weald National Landscape, with plenty to do nearby. Visit Great Dixter House and Gardens (3 miles) or head to Battle (10 miles) or the 14th-century Bodiam Castle (7 miles) for a day of history. Bodiam is also served by the Kent and East Sussex Railway so you can board a steam train and travel through to Tenterden (10.5 miles), a delightful market town with a tree-lined high street and independent shops and cafes. Take leisurely strolls along the cobbled streets of medieval Rye (7 miles) and visit Rye Heritage Centre to uncover its smuggling past. For seaside days, Camber Sands (11 miles) has soft sand, gentle shelving shores and dunes that children and dogs will adore. You can also visit the wonderful bird reserve at Rye Harbour (9.5 miles).

On arrival, step into a handy hallway with space to leave coats and shoes before moving into the comfortable lounge. Here, cosy seating, a wood burner and a Smart TV create a relaxed setting for evenings in. Across the hall, the dining room leads through to a well-equipped kitchen, creating a pleasant spot for food prep and shared meals. The large conservatory just beyond is a real highlight – light-filled and overlooking the garden, complete with a wood burner and dining table for year-round gatherings. A ground-floor WC completes this level. Up on the first floor, a double bedroom, a twin, and a bunk room await, alongside a family shower room with WC. A further staircase rises to the eaves, where you’ll find a beautiful king-size bedroom. This lovely room has sloping ceilings plus its own en-suite bathroom with a half-size bath. A door cleverly concealed within the large glass windows opens to a balcony with a bistro set and lovely garden views. Throughout, bookshelves and thoughtful decorative touches add to the cottages' warm, homely character.

Outside, there’s plenty of room for children and pets to explore in the extensive garden, which has a patio area and outdoor table and chairs for relaxed family dining. There is a pond within the grounds, so children should be supervised at all times. Private parking is available on site for up to three cars.
