A beautifully converted Forest of Bowland hideaway, this Lancashire retreat is perfect for those seeking natural beauty and peace. Situated near Dunsop Bridge, 12 miles from Clitheroe, the two-bedroom barn offers comfortable accommodation for four guests. Lace up your walking boots and step out from the barn to wander the scenic fells, green valleys and darker peat moorland areas. Venture into Clitheroe to potter in the independent shops and galleries, dine out in local eateries and visit the market. Also take time to explore the Norman castle and its 16 acres of grounds, where there is a labyrinth and a children’s playground. The younger members of your party will also enjoy the Bowland Wild Boar Park, 6.5 miles away. Plan a trip to famous Pendle Hill, 18 miles away. This area is known as the former home of the Pendle Witches. Here, the renowned witch trials were held in 1612. Enter at ground-floor level to find yourselves in an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, with underfloor heating and a wood burner in the corner for the autumn and winter months. Lay a fire here after crisp, bracing walks, then recline on the sofa to absorb its lovely heat. In the warmer months, prop the door to the patio. Prepare tasty meals to enjoy together at the table, find your favourite programmes on the Smart TV and simply make the most of this time away together as you gaze out at the beautiful scenery. One of your bedrooms, a lovely double, is also downstairs, together with the family shower room. The second bedroom, a super-king-size, with zip-and-link beds that can also be made up as a twin if discussed in advance, is on the top floor. This sumptuous bedroom not only benefits from an en-suite shower room but also has the luxury of a free-standing bath in the bedroom itself. Run yourself a hot bubble bath, then wallow in the water as you gaze up at the stars through the skylight window. Savour the beauty of the area from your outside space as much as possible. Bask in the sunshine on the patio over a BBQ lunch or supper as you take in the views. As dusk falls, gather round the fire pit. There is also a wildflower garden. The barn comes with private, off-road parking for two cars.
