The tiny hamlet on the South Tyne River is well-connected by road to the surrounding rolling countryside and many attractions, such as The Sill (3.2 miles) and Vindolanda (3.7 miles), as well as cycle routes 68 and 72, offering a haven for outdoor explorers, walkers and cyclists alike. The historic market town of Haltwhistle (2 miles) – the geographical centre of Britain – offers a great selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Discover Hexham Abbey, Sele Park and racecourse (13 miles) and explore the town of Allendale (15 miles), where shimmering rivers, pretty waterfalls, and stunning moorlands await. Situated on Hadrian’s Wall, on the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, the sleepy village of Gilsland (8 miles) boasts wonderful walks and breathtaking scenery. Within the rustic stone exterior, you’ll find a haven of country cottage charm across this homely retreat.
