Grab your walking boots and set off to discover the Hatterrall Ridge (7 miles). Climb to the top of and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the beautiful Vale of Ewyas and the Black Mountains. Browse its quirky bookstores, explore its 900-year-old castle, and check out the artisan produce on offer at its impressive weekly farmers’ market. Alternatively, discover the Roman temple ruins at the National Trust’s Weir Garden (13.5 miles). Discover the hidden beauty in the Walled Garden, see the exotic trees in the Rockery, and explore the Glasshouse, which was built in the 19th century by the same company that built Queen Victoria’s glasshouses. Escape to this idyllic farmhouse-style cottage, which is simply overflowing with quaint period features.
