Enjoying a central but peaceful location in the historic village of Warkworth, this fresh and welcoming cottage makes a charming getaway for up to six guests eager to explore an unforgettable part of the stunning Northumberland coastline. Warkworth has a choice of great pubs, cafes, restaurants and independent shops, and is home to a magnificent 15th-century castle and a secluded medieval hermitage. There’s also a long, golden sandy beach just a mile to the east. The River Coquet passes close to the cottage, offering tranquil walks to the coast and inland. A stroll south along the estuary will take you to the bustling fishing port of Amble (1.5 miles) which has some fabulous seafood restaurants and a busy Sunday market. To the north, the popular town of Alnwick (7.5 miles) is known for its majestic castle and the breathtaking Alnwick Garden. Entering this airy cottage, head along the hallway and into the light-filled kitchen/diner. This bright and cheerful room offers a warm welcome, with a central dining table perfect for family get-togethers. The fully equipped and thoughtfully organised kitchen has plenty of storage and workspace, and there’s a handy sofa to one side. The ground floor also has a WC. Upstairs, the first floor features the spacious, fresh and cosy lounge, with comfortable seating, a TV and views over towards the river. Just along the hall, you will find a stylish bathroom and a delightful twin bedroom which can be made up as a super-king-size on request. Heading up to the second floor there are the two remaining bedrooms, each with low sloping ceilings: a snug bunk bedroom with a skylight, perfect for children, and the characterful king-size room with a TV, plenty of storage space, picturesque river views and an en-suite shower room. From the dining area, doors lead out into the sweet and cheery east-facing courtyard garden. Featuring a lovely patio with ample outdoor furniture, this is a fantastic spot for dining alfresco and taking in views across the estuary where you can spot a range of local wildlife including the occasional seal. Parking is available for one car on the private drive, with additional parking bays along the riverbank, about 30 metres away.
