Lane End’s handy shops are only 20 metres away for fresh bread and ice creams, while the heart of Bembridge (0.5 miles) has a well-stocked farm shop and bakery. Nearby, the sandy and shingle beach curves around the iconic RNLI lifeboat station, with the village’s harbour and cosy cafés around 1 mile away. When the tide slips out, Bembridge Ledge (600 metres) turns into a treasure trove of rockpools teeming with crabs, shrimp, and sea anemones – hours of fun for budding marine explorers. History buffs can step back in time at Bembridge Windmill, the island’s last surviving windmill (1 mile), built around 1700 and still boasting much of its original machinery. What’s more, your very own beach hut is ready and waiting for you. You’ll arrive to a private driveway with space for two cars right at the front of the house, then step into a compact hallway – perfect for hanging coats and kicking off sandy shoes.
