Set just 4.5 miles from the historic market town of Knighton, this delightful hideaway makes a wonderful base for groups of hikers, nature spotters, and lovers of the great outdoors keen to explore a breathtaking part of Mid Wales. Knighton lies on the Wales/England border and has a choice of shops, cafes and pubs which provide lovely lunches and evening meals. and is home to Offa’s Dyke Centre; the route of Offa’s Dyke passes close by. The area has a wealth of popular attractions and landmarks, including the observatory at the Spaceguard Centre, the dramatic 13-arch Knucklas Viaduct, the ancient Knucklas Castle Mound, and the ruins of Clun Castle. Nearby there is a Clay Pigeon Shooting Ground and Rally School at Llangunllo and horse riding schools at Underhills Riding School and Heart of Wales Riding School. A short trip to Llandrindod Wells you will find The Metropole Hotel Spa where you can pay daily for access to the Spa facilities and lovely lunches. Close by you will find a park and the Award-winning Lakeside Boathouse for Canoeing, Dragon boats, Kayak plus Cycling Courses, Fishing Lessons, Fishing Tackle, Rod and Bike hire. Welsh ice-cream is also on sale at the lovely large Café by the lake. Just a little further afield are the Red Kite Feeding Station at Rhayader, Kington, and Hergest Croft Gardens, and Presteigne is 8 miles with takeaways, small restaurants, cafes and pubs. You'll also find a chemist and local independent shops available. Further afield (30 mins) is Leominster with great Antique shops and a range of cafes. Ludlow (30 Mins) where you will find lots of shopping and cafes, and the spectacular Ludlow Castle. On arrival through the 5 barred gate, pass in front of the main house to the parking area. Just through the picket gate, eight stone steps lead up to a path round to the front of the cottage, which is attached to the main house. Entering this charming retreat up a further step, you will be greeted by the fresh and fully equipped kitchen, which boasts everything needed for cooking up Welsh feasts. The kitchen leads straight through into the cosy lounge/diner, which features a Smart TV, comfortable seating, and a crackling wood burner set in an impressive stone surround − a wonderful space for everyone to unwind. Over by the window, there’s a sociable dining table, ideal for sharing all your favourite dishes. From here, a door leads to the ground-floor bedroom, a large bright room featuring an impressive king size four-poster bed, dressing table and lounge chair. Stairs lead up to the first floor, where you will find a further restful bedroom with a double bed and dressing table. Both bedrooms are full of character, with classic furnishings and rich decor. Also on the first floor is a well-appointed family bathroom with shower over, basin, & WC. Heading outside, the charming patio garden has outdoor furniture and a Chimenea, making a lovely spot for dining alfresco after a wonderful day spent exploring the Radnorshire countryside. There are friendly free-roaming geese and hens in the gardens who will likely come to say hello during your visit. Private parking is available for two cars.
