Tucked away in peaceful countryside less than a mile from the charming village of Thornton Watlass, this contemporary take on a traditional log cabin is the perfect rural retreat. With tranquil views, fresh air, and rolling landscapes all around, it’s a wonderful base for exploring the beauty of North Yorkshire. Stroll into Thornton Watlass itself, a pretty village with a pub and classic village green. Known for its picturesque setting on the River Ure, Masham is 3 miles away and home to two famous breweries, both offering tours and tasting sessions. The town also hosts a regular market, independent shops, and cosy cafes and restaurants. Equally close is Bedale, another traditional Yorkshire market town filled with character. Here you’ll find quaint tearooms, antique shops, a historic church, and the Wensleydale Railway. Outdoor lovers are spoilt for choice, with endless opportunities for walking, cycling, and wildlife watching in the national parks. Crafted with a nod to traditional rural living, this is a striking property inspired by the rustic wilderness cabins of North America and Scandinavia. As you walk through the front door, you’re welcomed into a spacious lounge where a modern wood burner and underfloor heating, warm interiors create an inviting atmosphere. There’s ample seating for everyone to gather, whether you’re curling up with a good book or sharing stories after a day of exploring. The open-plan kitchen and dining area makes mealtimes a sociable affair, with everything you need to cook up a feast using fresh local produce. A convenient ground-floor wet room with a shower awaits for freshening up after an adventure. Downstairs, there’s a bright twin room, while upstairs, you’ll find a spacious master bedroom and a second twin – both with en-suite bathrooms and private balconies. Enjoy your morning coffee while taking in the sweeping views of the Dales and surrounding countryside. A sofa bed in the living area provides flexible sleeping arrangements for larger groups. French doors open from the living area onto a beautifully maintained rear garden – an idyllic spot to dine alfresco or simply soak up the tranquil setting. With private parking for up to seven cars, the lodge is an excellent base for exploring one of the UK’s most spectacular landscapes.
