This charming character property in the village of Defynnog boasts a fine location for a rural getaway with friends or family. Right behind the dwelling is a peaceful church and garden – home to what’s believed to be Europe’s (if not the world’s) oldest yew tree, offering a truly awe-inspiring backdrop. It’s just 0.5 miles away from the village of Sennybridge (Pontsenni), the largest in the Upper Usk Valley, where you’ll find a thriving sheep market, handy shops and welcoming local pubs. Brecon (9.5 miles) offers everything from canal walks to cultural spots, while Llandovery (12.5 miles) is a historic market town with plenty of character. Trecastle and its surrounding areas are great for exploring, with local attractions and walking trails galore to include low-level reservoir walks. The foothills to the Brecon Beacons with Pen Y Fan its highest peak is only a 10 mile drive. Step through the front door into a welcoming hallway, which leads to a cosy living room on the right, with its lovely feature fireplace and wood burning stove. There are a number of original features in the property, including the original 19th-century wooden doors. Unwind on the sofa, perhaps watching something on the Smart TV. To the left off the hallway, the bright and airy kitchen has windows at both ends, including a delightful stone archway framing one view. The dining area sets you up for relaxed mealtimes. Upstairs, a king-size bedroom lies to the left at the top of the staircase, with the shower room straight ahead and a twin room to the right. For a breath of fresh air, head across the road and up a short lane (around 20 metres) to reach your private garden, which has a grassy section, pebbled steps and a bench for making the most of the setting and far-reaching views.
