Alderford Lake, 4 miles away, is superb for hiring paddleboards, open water swimming and letting the children lose in the aquapark. Stride out on walks straight from the cottage and reach a national nature reserve within just half a mile, or venture 13 miles to explore Hawkstone Park Follies, with its magical trails.
