Tucked into peaceful countryside, this stylish wooden cabin is an excellent base for families looking to explore nature, local towns, and fun attractions. Dartmoor National Park (34 miles) boasts wild moorland, tors, and rivers for walking and picnics. Closer to home, Winkleigh Woods (1 mile) is ideal for gentle strolls, while the traffic-free Tarka Trail (9 miles) is great for walking or cycling. Visit War Horse Valley Farm Park (10 miles) for animals and storytelling, or head to The Big Sheep (13 miles) and Milky Way Adventure Park (19 miles) for rides, play zones, and shows. Quince Honey Farm (16 miles) is a fun option for rainy days. History hounds can explore the ruins of Okehampton Castle (21 miles) or learn about the Civil War at Torrington 1646. Nature lovers will enjoy peaceful birdwatching at Meeth Quarry Nature Reserve (9 miles) and the beautiful paths of RHS Rosemoor Gardens (4 miles). The lodge boasts a generous, enclosed wraparound deck with outdoor seating, hammocks and a dining area for al fresco meals, with stunning lakeside views as your backdrop. Back across the bridge, an expanse of grass surrounds the lake and there’s an additional lakeside outdoor seating area, with a built in BBQ and a fire pit. Amble over to the shared games room which is complete with a pool table, table tennis table and darts, ideal for a family tournament. Guests are welcome to meet and join in with feeding the animals on the farm, including: Daphne and Delilah (the gentle rescue donkeys), Dave and Roy (the playful young donkeys), Joe and Ferdie (the horses), the cheerful ex-battery hens, Rufus, the retired guide dog and his sidekick pup, Daisy, plus the growing family of rescued pigs and sheep. There’s private off-road parking for two cars, making this an idyllic base for your countryside getaway.
