This sweet cottage with a charming secret garden terrace is perfect for a couple seeking a peaceful hideaway in beautiful North Cornwall. Beautifully converted from a former barn in a tranquil rural setting, it sleeps two guests, along with two canine companions. Just a mile away is the village of Kilkhampton, with shops, two traditional country pubs and a delightful tearoom. The sea and glorious South West Coast Path are within 3 miles at dog-friendly Duckpool Beach. From there, you can walk along the rugged cliffs towards the hamlet of Morwenstow (3 miles), or lively Bude (5 miles). Step inside your welcoming holiday retreat, one of four converted barns, to find a light and spacious open-plan living space. This is divided into the country-style kitchen, with all you might need for home cooking, plus a cosy dining spot, while in the lounge area, you can relax on comfortable seating and watch the Smart TV. Upstairs, there’s a bright and airy king-size bedroom with a splendid sleigh bed and an en-suite bathroom. This inviting room has dual-aspect windows offering a wonderful view of fields and woods as you prepare for bed. Outside, follow a sign to the Secret Garden down a short path. It leads to a hidden, enclosed terrace with patio furniture and a superb, far-reaching view across the rolling countryside. There is private parking for one car. Bude’s splendid beaches are a magnet for surfers or, for a refreshing swim in calmer waters, there’s the sea pool. Hire a pedalo, canoe or kayak for a trip down the town’s historic canal or enjoy a walk along the towpath. Visit Castle Bude which houses a fascinating heritage museum, along with exhibitions, galleries and a cafe. Tamar Lakes (4 miles) offers miles of scenic walking and cycle trails, fishing and a range of water sports for enthusiasts.
