Oc 30205 Post Office Cottage Goathland is a dog friendly holiday cottage from HolidayCottages.co.uk
Located in the charming moorland village of Goathland, this delightful holiday home once featured in ITV’s Heartbeat as the district nurse’s cottage. With the name ‘Aidensfield’ still adorning the building, the property has retained much of its TV character, providing a unique stay for five guests and one lucky pup. Set in a wide valley on the edge of the North York Moors, it’s surrounded by open moorland, hills and dales. Yet the historic town of Whitby is just 9 miles away, offering easy access to the Yorkshire Coast – and spooky legends! Outside, this two-storey cottage oozes rural charm, while inside a combination of vibrant decor and period furnishings set the scene for a memorable stay. The lounge has abundant character, with bold colours and patterns and a wood burner. Across the corridor, the open-plan lounge/diner has a seventies feel with period-style posters and a black-and-white checked floor, along with all the essentials for preparing and enjoying meals with your group. When night falls, three relaxing bedrooms await on the first floor. Take your pick from two king-size rooms, one with an en suite, and a cosy single, which shares use of the family bathroom. This property benefits from an enclosed grassy garden and raised decking overlooking fields, perfect for al fresco feasts and stargazing, along with a permit for on-street parking, plus easy access to a village car park. In addition to its Heartbeat connections, Goathland has found more recent fame with the village steam train station acting as Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter film franchise. Set on the eastern fringe of the North York Moors, this is a dream destination for walkers and nature lovers; a popular local walk takes you to Mallyon Spout Waterfall (just over half a mile). Alternatively, hop on the train to Whitby to visit the iconic ruins of Whitby Abbey and explore the town’s gothic history.
