It is the perfect base for groups with dogs and horses who are keen to explore Ireland’s Ancient East.


The two-storey cottage stands within a walled garden of a 19th-century country house close to the River Clashawley. The cottage has separate access and its cheerful exterior beautifully sets up a stylish interior. The deceptively spacious lounge features comfortable furnishings that are arranged across from a wood burner and between an exposed wooden ceiling and wooden floors. The neighbouring kitchen/diner is equally airy, with sunlight feeding in through dual-aspect windows and doors during the day. Stairs in the kitchen/diner lead up onto a carpeted landing, off which are a spacious king-size and an equally large double bedroom. A family-sized bathroom is only a few paw prints away. A handy utility room is outside ready to deal with reminders of the day’s adventurers, while the lawns are surrounded by attractive shrubbery.


The estate offers a peaceful, private place to walk the dogs and offers facilities for stabling horses. The banks of the River Clashawley (within 0.5 miles) are popular with runners, cyclists and water sports lovers. Aside from the usual shops and pubs, Fethard (1.5 miles) is a small town boasting a large number of mediaeval sites that are discoverable along a heritage walking trail.
