On the ground floor, a large lounge invites sociability and you can relax on the plump sofas, chat about your day, or enjoy a drink in front of the wood burner. Off from the lounge is a light and airy kitchen with a table where everyone can gather for a meal. There’s also a bathroom on this floor. When bedtime beckons, head upstairs and choose between a double room, a single room and a family bedroom with a double and additional single bed. All the bedrooms are wonderfully comfortable and with nothing to disturb you, you’ll be sure of a good night’s sleep. Outside, let the children play with the dogs on the lawn while you relax on the garden furniture and listen to the birdsong in the trees.


Sneem, 2 miles away, is a pretty village with colourful houses, shops, pubs and restaurants. The more energetic can pull on hiking boots and jump on the famous Kerry Way trail that starts in Sneem and runs for 133 miles. Alternatively, explore the subtropical gardens in Parknasilla (2 miles) or play a round of golf at its 12-hole course. For a day on the beach, head to the calm waters at White Strand Beach (8 miles).
