This coastal escape for two in the historic fishing port of Porthleven is the perfect place to switch off and soak up some Cornish charm. Enjoy romantic strolls around the picturesque harbour, followed by an evening meal in one of the exquisite seafood restaurants or cosy mariners’ pubs. At the end of the day, share a sundowner in your south-facing garden. The couple’s hideaway is decorated in cool tones to complement the seaside setting, and you’ll find little nautical touches throughout the accommodation. Enter the property on the ground floor, where there’s a storage area for outdoor gear and a wet room with a rainfall shower, before heading down to the stylish, lower ground floor. This open-plan living area comprises a lounge/kitchen/diner, with comfortable seating to snuggle up on after a long walk and a dining table set next to the French doors. The super-king-size bedroom can be found on the first floor, and features a remote-controlled blackout blind, ensuring a good night’s rest. The enclosed, south-facing courtyard garden is accessed both from the lounge and externally via a side entrance. It’s the perfect place for al fresco meals in the sunshine, and you’ll also find handy wetsuit hooks and a stand for your wellies, and with underfloor heating throughout the property is this an ideal retreat regardless of the weather. Stretching away from the town is a 3-mile sand and pebble beach, which is the ideal place to blow away the cobwebs and enjoy the rugged scenery. The beach is also popular for experienced surfers. Alternatively, journey along the coast to Praa Sands (5.5 miles), where you’ll find a wide, sandy beach and calm waters for bathing. Lose yourself in the beauty of the Lizard Peninsula, which is just a short journey to the east, or spend the day wandering amongst the romantic architecture of St Michael’s Mount (10 miles).
