Raleigh’s is a beautifully tranquil, rural retreat, set in the heart of the delightful Cerne Abbas village. Raleigh's is an enchanting and quintessential cottage - the most perfect base for accessibility to the countryside as well as the coast.
Built in 1580, it once hosted a visit from Sir Walter Raleigh! Fully modernised and sleeping 6 comfortably it is in the beautiful and historic village of Cerne Abbas. This welcoming home offers couples and families a cosy base for exploring the surrounding countryside with the award-winning Jurassic Coast a short drive away. Within a short stroll are three excellent village pubs, shop and tearoom. The famous Cerne Giant is within easy walking distance from the house and well worth a visit.
Raleigh’s has all the comforts of home and welcomes you from the moment you enter the cottage. The superb kitchen has an electric Aga, country kitchen table and chairs and doors onto a courtyard garden. The large sitting room with many beautiful features , from its large Inglenook fireplace with contemporary wood burning stove to the ceiling beams and oak window shutters. This space offers a comfortable relaxing spot for reading - a large library of books are provided - listening to music, catching up with loved ones and whiling away the evening as you watch the embers fade in the log burning stove. The garden is secure and enclosed with an alfresco eating space and Pizza Oven/BBQ. Also, on the ground floor there is a walk in shower room with WC and basin.
On the first floor via the panelled landing you can retreat to listen to music, watch TV or spend some time to unwind. To the front is the 1st of the 3 bedrooms. The 3rd room is a double with ample hanging space, double bed and views onto the village street outside. The 2nd bedroom across the landing again is a double with feature fireplace (not in use), leaded window to the front and plenty of storage space. To the back of the cottage is the family bathroom which is well appointed and is next to the master bedroom with super-king size bedroom, ample storage space and overlooks the courtyard.
You really are in the heart of the village at Raleighs, you have the very best of the countryside and coast so very close. Enjoy exploring the towns of Dorchester, Sherborne and Bridport and places of interest like Maiden Castle, Nothe Fort and Portland Bill. With so many places to discover locally you will find something to do come rain or shine!
